On the tenth anniversary of Kurt Cobain's suicide/death, I've decided to start this Nirvana/Kurt Cobain forum. Because I could never get it - why? What's the deal?!? This is my first day as a new writer for PopMusic.com, and I just wrote my first article - it's a bio of Kurt Cobain. It's not very kind. In fact, it's kind of mean - but, I just don't get it. Maybe someone out there could enlighten me..

But, of course, feel free to say whatever...

First of all, it's HoquIAm, I can't stand writers that misspell names, places, etc.
Secondly, some research on your part would be very much appreciated...you talk alot of ridiculous nonsense. Obviously, you didn't think much of Cobain, but hey, that's your opinion.

Well obviously you don't think much of Kurt Cobain or Nirvana's music. But if i wanted to hear your opinion i wouldn't be reading a "bio" which stands for BIOGRAPHY. if i wanted to hear your opinion i would be looking at something more like what i am writing now. i happen to be a fan but all opinions aside your writing could do with mor e facts and a lot less sarcasm.

wow you are a jerk man, maybe you dont like nirvana but you have a job to write a bio that is unbiased and if your going to do a horrible job you might as well have just not done it. That was really bad. As long as your going to be opinionated i will too, john lennon and the beatles were the worst musical performers ever, they were so horrible, there is no art in that music. Its the kind of music that you hear 5 times a week in every single bar, its annoying as hell, it was revolutionary yes, but when you look back now, its just plain horrible.

I can't beleive what I just read. This must be a joke or something. The writer, although apt, is obviously a brainless, publicity hungry twit. This biography is the very anti-thesis of the life of the person it claims to represent. Cobain's life and legacy are refreshing by comparison ... Saul who?

Kurt Cobain has got to be the single most brilliant man ever and if not he was by sure more brilliant than that last artical. If you where to listen to his music you would see that this man was writing and singing about real life and the fact that you would call this screaming is simply stupid and weak minded. I bet you have never listened to any of his music and so this makes you even more of a idiot. By critisising his music it diffines that you have a lack of artistic music sense. If you listen to his music you will realise that his music is basied on real events past and presant. I am saying this only to help you and develop your music sense.

well i'm not sure if you're aware, but Kurt was wrongly prescribed ritalin in his youth, which led to his drug dependancy. he later killed himself. one of the factors contributing to killing himself was the long-term abdominal pains he suffered, one of the symptoms of a person who has developed a ritalin addiction and is then taken off it.
i agree that the music he produced is not as technically good as John Lennon's, but has at least as much feeling and emotion in it.
How famous would John Lennon be if he had died after The Beatles 5th album? How famous would The Beatles be?
remember, John had Paul to help him out with songwriting, Kurt did all of his own.
there were rumours that he wanted to quit Nirvana and do something 'worthwhile'. he was supposed to want to collaborate with Michael Stipe of REM and become the kind of musician who isnt laughed at if he plays an acoustic. he didnt want to be the teenage grunge star for his whole life.
finally, he never asked for fame. he sang about things that were important to him and composed songs in the style that he liked. he never said "Hey, buy my music!" for him it was just a way of expressing himself.
if you want to say how pointless the music was and how overrated it was. dont blame him, blame the fans.
even if that article is your own opinion it is quite unfair, because you have ignored several important factors.

and depression IS a disease. i take psychology, i should know!

even though i am a fan of his, i have tried to be fair and not simply say: "but he's a legend!"

I didn't even finish reading the 2nd or 3rd paragraph before I realized the writer of this article is an unqualified ******* who apparently has no taste in music. The reason for all of Kurts anguish was because of he was misdiagnosed with hyperactivity and prescribed ritalin as a child which is what led to his drug dependency. Kurt was addicted to ritalin then he was taken off it which was the reason for the sever abdominal pains he suffered and also part of the reason for his well known heroin addiction, he was just trying to kill the pain. Cobain is a ledgend, he was a voice for the people of his generation, and highly respected...unlike you. you need to get your facts straight before you start talking ****. and quite frankly no one cares what you think this is supposed to be a bio on Kurt Cobain not an ******* wrighter who thinks hes the ****. I'm sorry but I think you need a new job

does anyone actually care what happened to him, cos da peeps who made this website musnt, i mean that ****e about the coughing in his bio. You're so imature, that you wouldn't understand what he was going through. What is you mental age? 4? no wait that is wrong because a 4 year old would have a heart, and wouldn't take the piss out of the greatest singer. So what if his voice was croaky, its probably better then yours you losers, dont you have anything better to do then write a load of ****e about 'kurtie' His name is kurt for god sake... **** off and grow up you heartless twats, a man killed himself, and when i read what you write about i can see why he dead. You treat celebs as if they are animals in a zoo, they have lives. You obviously don't. HOMOS!!!

Ok I belive everyone deserves an opinion but you should look at your ****ing facts before you go around saying ****. Not all of Nirvana's songs are loud, in-fact few of them are. Rot in hell.

Like as been said before and to spice it a bit, your words sound as frustated as they can get.
I can't believe you called Kurt's lyrics PATHETHIC! He was the LAST of the singers that expressed his feeling in his music, or do you prefer OVER-PRODUCED music about **** that doesn't even happened in the composers life, or WORSE that is composed/written by someone else.

When you say Kurt music was just loud noise then I say you must be pretty musically retarded, NOWDAYS Punk Rock is as crappy as it can get, it sounds the same no matter the band or singer(few exceptions like GreenDay but they started the early 90's so that says it all) it shouldn't even be called Punk Rock! Check out Wipers to hear some real punk rock, but it will probably sound bad to your ears since your musically retarded like I said..

Teens today lack inovation and those that have talent are sometimes wrapped up by the growing pop CRAP with artists based on look rather than talent...

And you're the pathethic one, and if I was your Boss you'd be fired, NOT cause you told your opinion but cause your opinion clearly lacks opinion
Nirvana songs were beautiful yet simple but effective.

Kurt Cobain songs were based essentially in power chords and simple chords but Kurt did more with simple chords than many artists do today with much greater guitar instruction.

Wonder why this place has so many ppl around :sarcasm: <<in case you didn't get it you *****[put your worst infancy name here]and don't take too much time doing it;9

The "writer" hasn't responded to any posts...must've been fired! How anyone could remain employed after writing the tripe that he submitted would be a miracle. Besides the unprofessional spelling and grammatical errors, the contempt the writer felt for his subject was disturbing. I don't understand why the writer took the time to compile a whole "biography" about someone he obviously loathes. I agree with the poster who said that he didn't want to hear opinion in a bio--how 'bout the facts?

I am Niravana's fan & I am amused.

The writer Of Kurt's biography was obviously payed to write something as offensive to attract attention. On the other hand he might not. He might just hate Nirvana and he's probably listening to Britney Spears every night. *mocking*

The thing is: you know that most of those who will read this article are Nirvana fans, so what is the point of writing something offensive?
Don't you have a little animal at home you torture every night?
I bet you like pissing people off.

As for Kurt. His style had a great effect on the music industry and on many teens, can you deny that? No. And once an artist has such a big effect, it does mean something.

The thing is that after the happy-poodel bands of the 80's people were tired of all the happy crap they were hearing, there were lots of people who slept under bridges and got kicked out of their homes (: and Kurt Cobain was their voice.
I bet you grew up in happy family, and never had a fight with dad.

Why are you comparing Kurt to Lennon? It's like comparing Sadam Husein to Hitler, they are both work in the same field, but they are completely different people.
However I like your sharp humor, & cinical remarks, you should write on someone who's a really bad artist (a.k.a. Britney)
P.S.
I'm not from UK or US or Australia or anyother eng speking country so sorry bout the spelling mistakes.
